Shelagh Taylor

Practice Manager

Alistair Taylor
BVMS MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Our Staff

Alistair qualified from Glasgow University Veterinary School in 1993 and, following a brief spell in Nottingham, worked in the local Edinburgh and West Lothian practices until 2001 when the opportunity to take over the Fred Nind Veterinary Surgery arose. He has always focused on domestic pets, including a keen interest in smaller mammals and, amongst many other courses, has also completed foundation training in acupuncture .

In his spare time, Alistair relaxes by playing and recording guitar, watching a good movie, mountain biking, and spectating at motorsport events when time permits.

Shelagh is Alistair's wife and the practice manager. Her background is in human nursing but she has spent a lifetime in the veterinary world and has actively been helping with veterinary nursing duties since the practice was established in 2001.

When she's not at work, or looking after their two sons,  she's looking after the growing Taylor menagerie of pets, currently standing at two dogs, Izzy and Isla, a cat called Joon and her horse,  Bryn. She also competes in occasional equestrian events as well as pleasure riding.

Emma joined us in November 2016 and is currently providing maternity cover for our other Emma, Emma Marshall, for at least the next 9 months. She moved to ourselves from being the sole qualified RVN in another local practice after studying for 4 years at Napier University where she received her BSc Honours degree.

When she's not working, her hobbies include swimming, cycling and her cat, Jess, a 2 year old domestic short hair.

Kim trained in a mixed practice in Alnwick, Northumberland, qualifying in 2004. She moved to Edinburgh and worked in a number of practices in both Glasgow and Edinburgh before joining us in 2006. She is interested in all aspects of veterinary nursing but has a particular interest in radiography.

In her spare time she competed in high level western riding on her horse, Levi, and is now training her new foal, Cody. She has completed several Moonwalk Challenges, the New York Marathon, an ultra marathon and is now taking part in  triathalons as well as recently competing in the Las Vegas half marathon! She also has a dog called Bonny and two cats, Twazels and Kira.

Veterinary Surgeon

Hannah graduated from Glasgow University Vet School in 2015 and initially worked in a large hospital down south before returning to Scotland in 2016. She joined us in shortly after this, early 2017. She has always been focused on domestic animals and has a special interest in surgery.

Carolyn provides us with regular locum cover for holidays and weekends, to give the permanent vets a well deserved break. She is actually the longest serving of all staff in the practice as she worked as an assistant for Fred Nind, before the practice became Pentland Veterinary Clinic. She was in the year above Alistair at both high school, in Milngavie, and Glasgow University Vet School where she qualified in 1992 and, prior to ourselves, she has previously worked in Belfast, Oxford and Livingston.

When she's not working, Carolyn is spending time with her cat, Tux, and her husband and four children, taking the time to go skiing whenever they can find the time.
